Now that he’s cooled off, Ice Cube wants to clarify something: he admires the late Paul Walker.
On Monday, Ice Cube argued that he was “robbed” of the Best Onscreen Duo award at Sunday’s MTV Movie Awards. “We had the best chemistry of everybody nominated, for us not to win was crazy,” the rapper told USA Today of his Ride Along co-star Kevin Hart. “We were the best onscreen duo, period.”
Voters clearly disagreed, as the award was instead given to Walker and Vin Diesel for Fast & Furious 6. “They should have gave it to him before he passed away,” Ice Cube said of Walker’s posthumous win.
Ice Cube also called it a “sympathy” vote. After the interview was published, he addressed the controversy via Twitter Monday night. “Re: The MTV Awards. I wasn’t really mad we didn’t win. So I would never diss the actors who won. Not even Paul Walker. Seriously people!” the movie star wrote.
“Don’t believe the hype,” he tweeted. “Re: Leaving early from the MTV Awards. They told me our catagory wasn’t gonna be televised. So I left. Just promoting that RIDE ALONG DVD. Re: The sympathy vote: We should honor people before they die. That’s all. Shame on you ‘make something out of nothing’ ass reporters. Smh. Re: MTV Awards. Ice Cube is not a sore loser. I was born losing. This winning s–t is what I gotta get use to. Last tweet and I’mma leave it alone. Remember this: A lie travels further then the truth. Damn the devil is busy. And Paul Walker fans don’t trip. I was a fan too.”
Production resumed late last month on Universal Pictures’ Fast & Furious 7 following the tragic death of leading man Paul Walker in November. Today, the production has issued the following official statement that confirms the rumors that Walker’s brothers, Caleb and Cody, are assisting in finishing the James Wan film:
A Note to the Fans of FAST & FURIOUS
The FAST & FURIOUS saga is about family. The characters are connected by the bond of family, and it is how all of us who have worked together for more than thirteen years feel about each other. It certainly defines how we feel about our fans.
Our family experienced an unthinkable shock in November. We had to take time to grieve Paul, the brother we love and lost, and to figure out if we should move on with our film.
We came together and all felt the only choice was to continue. We believe our fans want that, and we believe Paul would want that too. Paul had already shot his dramatic scenes and most of his action for FAST & FURIOUS 7, and it’s among the strongest work of his career.
We have resumed shooting and now welcome Paul’s brothers, Caleb and Cody, into our FAST family. Caleb and Cody are helping us complete some remaining action for their brother and fill in small gaps left in production. Having them on set has made us all feel that Paul is with us too.
We are just under a year away from the release of FAST & FURIOUS 7, and this film is the most important we’ve ever done together. It will allow the character of Brian O’Conner to live on and let us celebrate Paul in his most defining role.
We wanted to take a moment to speak to our fans directly and thank you for the love and support you always show us as we resume our work.
The film’s cast includes, in addition to the late Walker, Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Tyrese Gibson, Tony Jaa, Kurt Russell, Nathalie Emmanuel, Djimon Hounsou, Lucas Black and John Brotherton.

Also, if you can afford to buy the movie, a portion of the profits are going to the foundation that Paul Walker founded, Reach Out World Wide. You can also donate directly to the foundation on their site.
The family of Paul Walker is planning a private funeral for the Fast & Furious star after the Los Angeles County coroner’s office released his body to Forest Lawn Mortuaries on Tuesday, reports the Los Angeles Times.
Walker, 40, died Nov. 30 alongside friend Roger Rodas after the Porsche Carrera GT Rodas was driving in Santa Clarita, Calif., careened into a light pole and tree, then burst into flames.
An autopsy last week confirmed Walker died of “traumatic and thermal injuries.” Authorities say speed played a role in the crash.
A memorial at the crash site Sunday drew thousands.
Also last week, detectives arrested a teenager accused of stealing some wreckage from the Porsche. According to the Associated Press, a second man has surrendered in the case.
Authorities say Anthony Janow, 25, turned himself in at the San Fernando courthouse on Tuesday. He was booked and released on $60,000 bail.
Prosecutors say Janow and 18-year-old Jameson Witty stole a roof panel as the wreckage was being towed.
They were charged Monday with felony grand theft of personal property and two misdemeanors. They face up to 4½ years in jail if convicted.
Witty also is free on bail.
